«October Show» @ IFAC ATHINA

Extended until November 19

IFAC Athina, having run a seven-year trajectory of tracing and engaging with the multi-layered cartographies of contemporary art, returns to capturing the uninterrupted immediacy of now through The October Show. Originally scheduled to end on November 12, the exhibition has been extended to November 19 due to particularly enthusiastic participant engagement and public reception.

Defining our present-day Octobers, the show brings together theoretical inquiry and art practice to re-address the curatorial process and articulate the historical – social, political, and aesthetic – realities which encompass it.

Under this prism, The October Show is set out as a meta-situationist environment which

embraces the uninterrupted flow of energy as the unifying element and appropriates free

association as the methodological link between the works and the viewers.

Bringing together artists of different media, styles and movements in order to initiate a dialogue on contemporary art in Greece, the exhibition shifts the production of meaning from externally imposed narratives to the structural interaction of participants. In this experimental curatorial venture, Athens becomes the catalyst that communicates the essence of the unity of art with life.

The October Show signals the beginning of a new era for IFAC Athina, which returns with a renewed art program after its partial absence during the pandemic.

The exhibition will conclude on 19th of November 2022 with the Saturday Salon: The October Show event from 14:00 to 20:00.

After the exhibition, a limited-edition catalogue of the show will be published.
